First felting project

In the past week I was inspired to rid my closet of all unnecessary items. In the mess I found my very first felting project.

I screen printed an owl onto fabric, and felted into the screen print.

A closeup. As you can see, not the best technique. I ended up with lots of holes everywhere. Should be fixed.

The purge included a truckload of awesome t-shirts that I was saving because I liked the design but the shirts were really old/too small/just bought because I liked the design.

I decided to cut out all the designs and I am going to make a quilt out of them! This inspired me to set up my never out of the box sewing machine, so this will be quite the journey. My first quilt. Wish me luck!

Here is the supervisor demanding to sit on the table while I cut out designs.

Infant beanie 1

The silent auction was a hit! We raised $4500 for my school AND all my stuff sold. Most of it went for the minimum bids, but thats ok! Definitely helped out about $100 worth at least.
Here is a vision of the auction. Lots of items, mine are interspersed in there.

One of the parents at the event commissioned me to make her baby a hat, so I'm also getting business from this exposure.
I decided to do a simple hat with some added texture.

Shes almost 6 months, so hopefully it fits! We'll see tomorrow.

Cards and Cowls

Wow, I can't believe how lazy I have been about posting but the exciting news is that I got engaged last weekend! After lots of problems, and a broken down car, we're finally home after a surprise trip, but I've been biking and bus-ing to work, which leaves less time for crafting and such. At least there is an excuse, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy.

Finally, all the items for the silent auction are done and turned in. The auction is the 18th so photos to come as soon as that is over.
The final cowl.

I thought that the combo of yarn that I used looked like braided hair.

Also, at work there were 2 birthdays at work so I was commissioned to make cards. Simple and cute. Next time I will use better paper because the ink smeared on the front of these after being signed and handled by everyone.

Best Hat Yet

Over the last few months I have knit 4 hats, none of which I was really thrilled with until this one. I committed to knitting a hat so I tried a new yarn combo, and it was awesome!

The first hat was too loose, the 2nd too bulky, the 3rd also too bulky, and the 4th... perfect.

I always feel like the band is too tiny. This could fit around my wrist! In the end, a little tight, but better than being too loose.

From the front

and the back.

All packed up and ready to go!
